Dearest Evergreens,
Forgive the earnest inconsistency yet again, for this time I bring gifts. Well, a gift - a refreshing poem written by my sister in honor of Independence Day.
A painful contradiction our lives remain
Despite having life our minds stay numb
Constant suppression heaped upon us
Oh! I ask where is our freedom at
A person is defined by how he lives
But when no one is puppeteered, who is that
Those who take it deserve it not themselves
Oh! Once again where is our freedom at
Do we sit by and wait
And mindlessly play destiny's game
Or shall we try to change the tide
Maybe one day we shall see where our freedom lies
A gifts value is never understood
The hard-earned fruit is valued more
So rise up brothers and sisters and wake the rest
Today we shall find where our freedom lies
Now I see it 'round the corner
Whispering, beckoning, calling us forward
In the strength of our unity and clarity of mind
That my friends is where our freedom lies
