Love Yourself
His flight had been delayed by five hours due to rough weather, so it was natural that he sat at the airport lounge, quietly observing everything around him. He was quite the BTS army so it wasn't a big surprise that he was listening to Save Me on his iPod. He clicked the shuffle button on his BTS playlist and leaned back in his seat as the music from his most favorite songs crashed over him. He was almost oblivious to the ruckus around him. There was a lady in a peach trench coat trying to control her son who seemed to be around five-years old at the maximum. Then there was a man in navy-blue overalls who appeared to be chatting with someone over the phone. There was a sweet couple that sat a few seats away from him and were immersed in a book called The Host. Then there was the security, all clad and smartly dressed in uniforms. He was used to traveling so much, that this wasn't an extraordinary sight, just the plain old usual. He looked around for a while but then glanced back at his iPod as a familiar tune coursed through the wires of his headphones and into his ears. Love Yourself by BTS. He kept jabbing the buttons on the screen, trying to change the song, but his iPod had a different idea. All the buttons froze, but the music seemed to go on. He sighed. He had never believed in it. He had always tried to evade this song. He had only let it stay in his playlist because he wanted to believe that it was true. To believe that it was really possible to love yourself. Here he was, in a society that told you to be yourself, and yet it judged, watching you through its cruel eyes, almost as if it was hoping and waiting for you to make a mistake. He sighed again, so deeply, that he made a few heads turn. It was still daylight. He absent-mindedly looked up to the broad, white beams that supported the intricate infrastructure, all the while drinking in the meaning of the song. He had been mocked and bullied by society, living in the constant fear of being judged. So much so that he was even scared to give time to himself to sort it out. He had always let others be in charge of him, remote-controlling his emotions, all because he was scared to express himself. Scared he wouldn't be accepted. He had always doubted himself, feeling that he was incapable. The music put him at ease. Was this what he had been avoiding all along? He realized that loving himself would allow him to make better choices in life, to be both mentally and physically healthy. There was a part of society that would judge him no matter what, but he would show them that no matter what, he would keep going. He realized that this would only be possible if he loved himself. He knew it wasn't going be easy for him, but he would try. He was jolted from his thoughts as Blood, Sweat and Tears played next. Somehow, his iPod had reverted back to its normal state. He switched it off, and removed his headset as the flight announcements were being made. The flight had landed and it was time to board. As he boarded the plane, he felt that it symbolized a new journey for him. It was going to be a journey that he would never forget. The quest to love himself.
